Philip has extensive experience of insurance litigation, covering all aspects of employers' liability, public liability and product liability claims, including policy advice.

Philip specialises in occupational health claims such as stress and asbestos-related claims. He has considerable experience of managing sensitive occupational stress claims, particularly those which overlap with employment tribunal proceedings. Philip also has particular experience of employee claims in the aviation and theatre industries.

Philip has extensive experience of HSE matters, from investigating the initial incident to defending the policy holder in court. Philip's HSE experience includes defending fatal accidents and prosecutions arising from these in the construction and other industries, including the rail industry. As a result, Philip has considerable experience in managing these incidents to include liaising with the client, the relevant prosecuting authorities, the press and others. These claims are often very sensitive and involve specialist advice on disclosure and privilege at the outset.

Philip lectures on a variety of topics including civil procedure, health and safety, stress and occupational disease. He joined the firm as a partner in 2009. He is a regular contributor to legal education programmes.

Philip qualified as a Solicitor-Advocate in August 2005.
