Melanie has for the last 20 years defended liability claims on behalf of individuals and corporations on the instructions of insurers. Her experience includes: claims involving personal injury following accidents at work; road accidents and public liability claims. She also has experience of defending claims relating to defective products. Her non personal injury practice includes claims involving fire, flood and subsidence. Melanie is also experienced in providing policy advice in relation to EL/PL, Contractors All Risk and Motor Policies. Reported Decisions include: Lawson v Midland Travellers relating to the service of a claim form outside the period of validity. Houghton v Stannard where a Claimant parked on a duel carriageway due to a defect in his vehicle thereby blocking the carriageway. Tesco Stores v Pollard which related to consumer safety and the Consumer Protection Act 1987. Outside work, Melanie is the mother of 2 children (involving a second career as a very good taxi service). She also enjoys running, cooking and travelling when time permits. |
