A Coroner’s inquest can be a useful source of information at an early stage of an investigation. But it can also be a trap for the unwary.
An inquest can sometimes hear weeks of evidence before a jury is asked to reach one of a few simple verdicts. Juries often lose sight of the purpose of the inquest and embark on inappropriate lines of questioning that could incriminate the witness. Claimants’ solicitors will take the opportunity to examine potential defendants.
We will ensure representation at the inquest, either by a specialist within Greenwoods or by outside counsel, to protect the insured’s witnesses from improper questioning and also to gather as much useful evidence as possible.
